Do you want to know more about me? Here is my story.

Tinkerer

If a time machine could take us back to the 80s when I was a curious little boy, you’d find me surrounded by dismantled gadgets. My love for taking things apart often got me into trouble when I couldn’t put them back together!

Thinker

My fascination with how things work also made me a thinker. When tinkering with a clock, I pondered not just its mechanics but also the concept of time itself. The relationship between the time the clock tells and past, present, and future was mind-boggling.

Reader

In Patna, where I grew up in India, I was fortunate to have access to the British Library. These books would take me to faraway lands. I became quite interested in Polynesia and its culture through stories of Somerset Maugham. I still love to read, including sometime dry technical papers about AI or about the psychology of money

Photographer

I also developed an interest in photography. Over a period, I have mostly focused on black-and-white photography. The absence of colour makes me think that nothing is black and white, such as ambiguities of life. Interestingly, I have found it quite useful at work. Working with this form of photography helps me with getting clarity and removing distractions. This is particularly helpful when I am dealing with complex problems, as it helps me simplify and remove distractions.

Maker

My curiosity led me to explore electronics as a hobby. I loved creating electronic projects, which also gave me a good understanding of how logic and hardware worked together. I assembled my own PC and was fortunate enough to learn about programming and computers at an early age.

Learner

My love for electronics took me to study Electronics and Communications Engineering at one of the top tech universities in India, where I gained deeper understanding of systems as a whole, the interaction between software and hardware.

Explorer

My first job was in Pune, a metropolitan city about 2000 km from small town Patna. It was a culture shock, different language, different people. I was an outsider, and I got my first lesson in inclusion by being excluded.

Engineer

I started as a software engineer. I wanted to learn more about the underlying systems. I wanted to understand how computers worked and were interconnected. I approached the Infrastructure Manager and explained him what I wanted to do, and he hired me. My career in systems and infrastructure had begun.

Traveller

In Pune, I learned to understand the local language and opened myself to a different culture. Those relationships are still fresh and thriving. I had great opportunities to travel and work globally in different working environments. Life was an adventure, fuelled by my curiosity, and the desire to see the world.

New Zealander

While in Singapore I came to New Zealand on a 10-day holiday in 2001. I fell in love with it. It was as if I was reliving the world described by Somerset Maugham. After leaving, I was longing to come back to New Zealand and make it home. Seven years later, in 2008, I moved here with my wife Stuti and then one-year-old daughter Tvisha. New Zealand is home, I live here with my lovely wife Stuti and two daughters, Tvisha and Tanisha.

Nurturer

I love to spend family time together, playing XBOX and being defeated in Tetris which was a game I grew up with. I am also the peacemaker when it goes – she pulled my hair! She kicked me first! To keep my calm in the madness, I connect with the nature and find it magical. Every time I walk, garden, see the sky, I feel the magic.
